The main objective of the European project AMU-LED is to demonstrate that drones can safely move through the skies of our cities. To do so, demonstrations will be carried out throughout 2022 in three countries: Spain, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

The venue chosen for these demonstrations in Spain will be Santiago de Compostela. This is an ambitious initiative for 2022 as it will be one of the largest demonstrations of aerial vehicles in an urban environment, involving 17 different entities from Europe and the United States.

Coordinated by Everis, the consortium is made up of a group of leading players in the sector: Airbus, AirHub, Altitude Angel, ANRA Technologies, Boeing Research & Technology-Europe, FADA-CATEC, Cranfield University, EHang, ENAIRE, Gemeente Amsterdam, INECO, ITG, Jeppesen, NLR, Space53 and Tecnalia.

Prior to the 2022 demonstration, several training sessions will be held. These will consist of more than 100 hours of combined flight with different unmanned aerial systems and different scenarios, use cases and applications will be considered.

Thus, AMU-LED will perform air taxi operations, cargo transport, delivery of goods and medical equipment, infrastructure inspection, police surveillance and support to emergency services.

The aim of the project is to explore the benefits of reduced traffic on the roads thanks to aerial mobility, as well as the improvements in the transport of people and goods, the reduction and flexibility of travel times, and the reduction of pollution and traffic accidents.
