A budget of 1.54 million euros for our IOTEC initiative; one of the 42 projects supported by Portugal and the Board of Castile and Leon
As part of the cross-border cooperation programme between Spain and Portugal, 42 projects have been launched between Castile and Leon and the neighbouring country, the main objective is to promote the development of companies in those regions and, above all, to encourage innovation and technological development processes, among other important issues such as climate change or efficiency in public administrations.
With a total of 132 initiatives, in which both private companies and public institutions participate, including municipalities, councils, autonomous administration, universities, technology centres and hydrographic confederations.
For the period 2014-2020, the Operational Programme of Cooperation Interreg VA Spain-Portugal (POCTEP), has a total investment of 237.97 million out of which 178.28 million is form the Feder funds. 45.6 million euros of funds are eligible to Castile and Leon for projects that seek to improve business competitiveness, as is the case of IOTEC, from which our Digital Innovation Hub has been launched.
IOTEC has been awarded a budget of 1.54 million for the creation of a platform that will connect professionals with knowledge of new technologies, favouring development and research with the Internet of Things (IoT) as the main actor of growth of SMEs in the community.
Also, the aim is to nourish the society with of knowledge on this and other technologies, in this way encouraging companies, environments and citizens to strive towards smart societies, triggering a boom in R&D&i of the Internet of Things.
