The importance of investing in the security of connected devices for the future of IoT

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) poses a threat to its own security because it cannot address all the security gaps at the same pace.
Out of the total amount of security problems experienced by IoT, 90% are identified to be transmissions with unencrypted devices. In addition, 41% of devices do not use Transport Layer Security protocols, another 41% use them on some occasions and only 18% use all connections.
These figures highlight just how necessary it is to improve the security of connected devices. Investment in this area should be considered crucial to the future development of IoT as it will help prevent cyberattacks which would otherwise hinder the development of this technology.
