Video game companies unite against climate change.

Large video game companies have attended the 2019 climate summit in New York in the effort to reduce their industry's impact on the environment.

The "Playing for The Planet Alliance" unites 21 major game companies, including PlayStation, Xbox and Ubisoft in the fight against pollution.

The first step taken by PlayStation has been to reduce the power consumption of the PS5 in standby mode, it consumes less power than previous consoles. Microsoft's supply chain is going to reduce emissions by 30% by 2030 in addition to developing its carbon-free Xbox consoles. Ubisoft will make use of raw materials from eco-friendly factories.

It is estimated that the companies belonging to this alliance number to approximately 970 million players, so the joint action of these companies will mean a reduction of 30 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2030.
